The following is a set of general rules. This is a condensed version for publishing on this site. For official rules contact club President. Do not be afraid to ask if your ORIGINAL vintage race car would be allowed to race.
GENERAL RULES
1. No drinking before or during race time: You will be asked to leave.
2. Sign in with payout envelope when you arrive. Pay out will be by envelope you signed in with.
3. Unload and park your car in proper line up area, headed out toward track, ready for racing.
4. Every car must help with track packing as requested by track. Know the schedule of events and be ready when it is our turn to take the track.
5. Take time to talk and cultivate interest; a good way to find new members, cars, and parts. If time allows, stay 30 minutes after races are over to talk to people from the stands REMEMBER: If the people do not enjoy seeing us we probably will not race that track again.
6. Line up will be by drawing.
7. Cars must be mechanically able to finish the race before entering the track. Cars should have a number on both sides. Cars should arrive at track clean and looking nice. (Touch up paint as necessary to look good)
8. Racing begins when the green flag is waved.
9. No trophies. If track gives a trophy winner of trophy will give it to a kid in the stands.
10. All drivers must be paid members 16 years or older with valid drivers license. No Exceptions.
SAFETY RULES
Fire Suits: Mandatory. Top and bottom or full one piece.(Nomex gloves and shoes recommended)
Fire Extinguisher: Mandatory. Must be within drivers reach.
Helmet: Approved full face helmet shall be equipped with a proper face shield.
Seats: Bucket or foreign car seats must be bolted or welded to the frame. Head rest is mandatory.
Belts: 5 point harness, three inch width military, quick release seat belt and over shoulder harness required. Must be fastened to the frame or roll bar members. Shoulder harness should be fastened at a point no higher than the seat back.
Roll Bars: Six point roll cage of suitable pipe or tubing. Base or upright members shall be welded to the frame. Cage shall be braced to rear or front of frame with kick ups and diagonally side to side with rear uprights, (X brace). At least two side bars on driver side between front and rear uprights running horizontally.
Doors: All doors shall be welded, bolted, or otherwise secured when shut.
Fire Walls: Rear wheels and gas tank must be separated from drivers compartment by firewall. Firewall should be at least .032 inch thick. Floor boards from behind the seat forward.
Gas Tank: No pressurized tanks. At least two metal straps over tank. Some sort of tip over spill protection required.
Batteries: May be installed in car but must be securely anchored. Batteries will be encased in a box away from the driver, covered and fastened securely.
Drive Shaft: Painted white and a chain or iron safety loop must be used at a point behind the transmission of 6-10 inches.
Bumpers: Bumpers and side rails must be securely welded or bolted to the frame and shall not extend beyond center of tire tread.
Kill Switch: Must be within drivers reach when belted in.
CAR
Front Axle: OEM Straight front axle. No coils unless original equipment.
Steering: No Rack and Pinion types. Must have an OEM steering box, may be manual or power assisted.
Engine: No V6 engines. No overhead valve V8. Flathead engines can do what they want. Inline 6 cylinder must run 1 stock factory 2 barrel carb or 2 stock factory 1 barrel carbs.
Drive train: No Automatic transmissions. All manual transmissions will have flywheel and clutch assembly (minimum 10" clutch). No lockup or coupler type clutches
Rear Suspension: No coils or coil over leaf designs. Must be leaf spring. No pull rods or other "traction devices" allowed.
Brakes: 4 wheel or 3 wheel brakes must work.
Fuel Pump: Mechanical or electric if electric Shut off switch must be marked. An inertia shut off switch is required for electric fuel pumps.
Gas Pedal: Must have pull up loop/hook of some kind in case of stuck throttle.
Tires: 11 inch tread allowed street radial, IMCA tires, pro stock or EC-2 tires acceptable.
Wheels: Maximum rim width of 10 inches. Steel or aluminum, steel recommended for strength and safety. No mud plugs or bead locks.
Frame: No homemade frames. Must use original frame for the car body or body may be set over a straight rail truck type frame. Minimum 110" wheelbase unless an original stock length frame is being used. Inspector group will determine if a car is built safely.
Body: Any full width coupe or sedan steel car body 1948 and older. No open top driver compartments. Hood must cover radiator cap.
Minimun Weight: 2600 Lbs. Club reserves the right to add weight to vehicles in attempt to equalize competition.
