
In general it is not a good idea to have a number of free running
oscillators in a system. In this design the 9.6 MHz oscillator runs the A/D converters and supplies the
reference for the VRDT drive signal. The Radio Shack WWVB clock receiver outputs a 1 Hz data train
which can be used to stabalize the 9.6 MHz oscillator. This way accurate time can be determined by counting
A/D samples.
